Letter From the Director

It is time for another update….

I cannot believe that it is already October. These first couple of months of school have just flown by! We had an amazing beginning of the year. I think this might have been one of our smoothest starts to a year ever! We have many new families that have joined us this year, and I want to officially welcome all of them and tell you how honored we are that you have chosen The Playhouse Academy for your child’s preschool years. Welcome to our family!!!

Individual Pictures will take place this Thursday and Friday, October 3rd and 4th. You should have received a permission slip in your child’s folder. Please fill this out and send it back. Your child(ren) will not be able to have their picture taken if we do not have a permission slip for them. If your child attends on both of these days he/she will only have his/her picture taken ONCE! Please let your teacher and/or the office know which day you would like for your child(ren) to have their picture taken. If he/she does not come on either of these days you can bring him/her up first thing in the morning on either day to have his/her picture taken. If you have more than one child that attends Playhouse we will have their pictures taken individually as well as together unless you tell us otherwise. You will view and purchase pictures in about a week or two. I will send out an e-mail letting you know when they will be out for viewing.

We are about to enter our busiest time of the year…The Holiday season is upon us! At the end of this month we will be having our Halloween Parties!
The Three year old, Bridge, and Pre-K classes are taking a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Wednesday October 23rd! If you are in any of these classes you will receive more information about the field trips soon!

On Friday October 25th the Pre-K and Bridge classes will be going to the Stonegate Nursing Center to Trick or Treat with the residents. This is the fifth year in a row that they have invited us to come celebrate with them, and the children and residents always have a good time! The classes that are involved in this trick or treating field trip will get more information as it gets closer. On Thursday October 31st we will have a school wide parade of all of the children dressed up in their costumes. Halloween parties will also take place in each classroom starting at 12:45. Please take a moment to sign up for something if you haven’t already! If you have already signed up for something, thank you very much! The PTO will be hosting a Halloween Carnival on this day as well that will take place during the day in the big room. Each age level will have an assigned time to come to the big room, where they will get to participate in many fun carnival activities. We encourage any parents who would like to attend to please come and celebrate with us. We will get the times out to you soon. We think this is going to be a very fun and exciting thing for all of your children and are happy to make it part of our school day!! This means that Thursday October 31st is going to be a very busy day. We will be having our costume parade first thing in the morning, then the big room carnival, as well as classroom parties in the afternoon. If your child does not attend school on Thursday and you would like to bring them and stay with them during their classroom carnival time, we would love to see you there!! Any parents that would like to volunteer to help during the big room carnival are always welcome and appreciated. There is a signup sheet on the doors in the entry way.

I want to thank everybody for their unbelievable participation in the Book Fair. It was a huge success!! I know the teachers truly appreciate all of the books that were purchased for the school, and thanks to you all we earned Scholastic Dollars to

spend on more books and educational materials for the classrooms!!

I wanted to tell you about a program we will be running called Original Works. Soon you will receive a packet of information in your child’s backpack, along with their artwork. You can have this artwork turned into any of the products that they sell…I will have some of them displayed on a table in front of the stairwell in the entry way. Orders are due by Friday October 25th. If you have any questions about the program or any of the products available please let me know! This is a very neat program that we have run successfully in the past years. Anything that you order will arrive before we leave for Winter Break, just in time for the Holidays!!!

November begins another busy month for all of us here at The Playhouse Academy. We are bringing back our Fall Festival which will be held on Friday November 8th. This will be just like our Spring Carnival, packed full of fun activities for the whole family! We are moving our big silent auction and raffle to the Fall Festival rather than the Spring Carnival. You will be receiving more information about this event and opportunities for you to help within the next couple of weeks! I will send out another update at the beginning of November so be on the look out!!!
